Motostik 9

I've just submitted v9 and v9AF for review. The major focus of this release was to address many of the memory leak issues that produce sluggish performance. Also included in this release is the ability to send feedback/suggestions and some minor refinements to the zooming feature.

Motostik 6

Motostik 6 and 6AF were just submitted for review. This release doesn't have any new features but does fix a long standing and annoying bug related to animating stick men before/after they interact with the floor. Another bug related to deleting the first pose was also fixed.

Motostik 3

I've spent the last month working to improve the animation component of Motostik as much as possible. The major changes have been improved accommodation of known problems and the ability to add stick men and chairs to animations. What has become clear this past month is that automatically figuring out how to animate objects from a series of poses is a lot trickier than I had anticipated. I'm pretty sure that even with all these improvements that its still not perfect. My goal is to get a little better with each release until all the issues are resolved and the system is as perfect as possible. Another change that has been made is the inclusion Motostik AF, which is a paid app and contains the same functionality with no ads. These releases should be out in the next week or so. And for those that love lists, the complete set of changes in this release are as follows.

  • Fixed various bugs.
  • Added the ability to add/remove stick men from animations.
  • Added the ability to add/remove chairs from animations.
  • Reworked interface for editing pose/animation content.
  • Added incremental learning for correcting animation problems.

Motostik 2

Just this morning I submitted the second version of Motostik to the App Store for review, meaning that an update should be available and should be automatically pulled down in the next 5-10 days. Originally I was intending to pack more in this update, but noticed a pretty significant bug that was preventing iPad users from sharing poses. Instead, they get a crash...which is no good at all. So decided to pack in a couple of cool additions and push it out quick so users won't want to slap me on the head for being a sloppy developer. The biggest change in this release is the ability to add multiple stick men and chairs to poses. This should make creating and sharing poses a bit more interesting and fun. If you have ideas for things you'd like to be able to add, let me know. The complete list of changes is included below. The next release will focus on improving the animation component. Happy tapping!

  • Fixed various bugs.
  • Added the ability to double tap to hide the controls in poses
  • Added ability to add/delete stick men from poses.
  • Added ability to add/delete chairs from poses.
  • Smoothed out the joints.

Now you can have more than one stick man in a pose.

Motostik 1

I created Motostik as a hobby, which is why its supporting page is this simple blog instead of a snazzy website, and am working to incrementally improve it to make it a bit more rich and engaging. My feeling is that a second version should be out the door in a month or so. In the mean time, if you have any comments/suggestions/feedback, feel free to include them in an App Store review, a comment on this blog, or contact me directly at dustin.garvey@gmail.com.

While Motostik cannot do much at the moment, one interesting and kind of fun use that I've discovered once it got into my pocket has been to send poses as part of text messages or Facebook posts. Some of my favorites are included below. If you have any you think are cool, feel free to e-mail them to me and if I concur with your assessment, I'll post them here for everyone to enjoy.

Thanks for reading and tapping!
